Happy Halloween!

Boo!!

This year I decided to make my costume for Halloween.  After racking my brain on what to be I finally decided to be a scrumptious cupcake.  I looked on the web for inspiration pics and Leti and I got to work.  Between the two of us we had almost everything we needed to make the costume (with the exception of the pom poms.)

Batting, a plain white shirt, pom poms & silver tube top

To construct the top of the cupcake we used batting (48"x 48") that Leti had leftover from an old project.  We cut the batting into 3 different sizes to create the layers of frosting.

12"x48", 16"x48" and 20"x48"

Because the batting was so flat we needed to hand sew the batting in a couple of places to give it a bunched look.

Next, we safety pinned the strips of batting to the shirt & hot glued the pom poms for the sprinkles.

Can you see the cupcake yet?

The last thing left to do was to make the cherry.  Here's what I used:

We simply wrapped the stryofoam ball with the red yarn and hot glued it every so often to secure it.  To make the stem we poked a hole in the cherry and hot glued in the garden tie.  To attach the cherry to the headband we used two pieces of felt on either side of the headband and hot glued them together.

We hot glued a small piece of felt onto the ball (under the yarn)

And put the other piece of felt under the headband.

To make sure the cherry wasn't going anywhere we also used pins to secure the cherry.

Here it is all done. What do you guys think?

Have a safe Halloween,

-Johanna
